Inception of Doordarshan Mumbai

Doordarshan is inspired by the ancient Sanskrit saying “Satyam Shivam Sundaram”, – that “which is True, is Permanent and Beautiful”.

Doordarshan Kendra Mumbai came into the telecast map of India on 2nd October, 1972. Doordarshan is the only public service broadcaster of the country and DDK Mumbai is the second largest establishment in the network which produces and telecast 24 hours Programmes for DD-Sahyadri and also contributes through its diverse programming to educate, entertain and inform all strata of society in the state of Maharashtra and Marathi population around the world.

It provides media support to the socio-economic development of this region, conserve and propagate the great culture & heritage of Maharashtra. The best performances and works of great artistes are showcased in regular telecasts. DD-Sahyadri helps to promote scientific temper, fosters communal harmony & national integration, propagates universal brotherhood and plays a vital role in nurturing young talent by providing a platform for the development of soft skills.
